Field Trips

All Field Trips will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2016.

All Field Trip Participants MUST sign a waiver before participating in the field trip. Please print & sign the attached ISSW 2016 Field Trip Waiver and bring it with you when checking in at the Registration Desk.

Adult waiver | Minor waiver

IMPORTANT NOTE: Registration Deadline for all Field Trips is August 31st, 2016, 23:59.  New registrants, or delegates who have not paid their fees will be place on a wait-list after that date.

Field trips are sold on an optional basis and based on availability. ISSW 2016 organizers reserve the right to cancel any field trip at any time if minimum number requirements are not met.

Loveland Pass/Seven Sisters Gazex Installation Tour

Tour the recent CDOT Gazex installation at the Seven Sisters on Loveland Pass. We will board buses in Breckenridge that take us over the Continental Divide to the Loveland Ski Area. After an overview of the program, coffee and a snack, we will ride a chairlift and hike to the installations. Staff from TAS / Gazex and Obellx, the Colorado Department of Transportation, and the Colorado Avalanche Information Center will be on hand to discuss the new installation and the Seven Sisters avalanche mitigation program. Buses will take the group to the Arapahoe Basin Ski Area for lunch at their scenic, mid-mountain Black Mountain Lodge. From there we will have more hiking opportunities and Arapahoe Basin staff will be available to discuss ski area operations and expansion plans.

Breckenridge Ski Area Hiking Tour

Join us for a scenic alpine hiking tour hosted by the Breckenridge Ski Patrol. Buses pick us up from Beaver Run Resort and drive us to the base of Peak 6, where we will load chairlifts and take a short hike that looks over the recent ski resort expansion. Next we will traverse the ski area crossing Peaks 6 and 7 to end at Peak 8. The patrollers will be on hand to discuss the unique challenges presented by their recent terrain expansion. From Peak 8 you may choose to hike all the way back to town or after a short descent, download on the Colorado chairlift. Sack lunches will be provided by Breckenridge Ski Area.

Guided Mountain Bike Riding (beginner/intermediate)

Treat yourself to Breckenridge's world-class mountain bike trails. Local trails are known for their spectacular views and serene singletrack flow. From first timers to professional racers, we will craft your perfect ride. We have a selection of demo bikes from Rocky Mountain, Scott, BMC, Borealis, and Yeti.

Helmets are optional and available for rent at the store for an additional USD $5.00.

Gratuity not included.

Guided Road Bike Tour (intermediate/expert)

Helmets are optional and available for rent at the store for an additional USD $5.00.

Stand Up Paddleboard(SUP) the upper Colorado

This river trip will take place on the upper Colorado River, which is located about an hour away from Beaver Run Resort and Conference Center. Pick up your box lunch before you get on the shuttle service from Beaver Run to the upper Colorado River. Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) on this class I-II whitewater excursion. In addition to the fun on the vessels we will also stop along the river for some cliff jumping, a quick soak in the natural hot springs along the river as well as super soaker wars between boats.

A Bagged Lunch is available for purchase for an additional USD $15.00. Options include turkey and vegetarian.

Space is limited to 5 people.

Raft the upper Colorado (Rafting)

Kayak the upper Colorado (Inflatable Kayak)

Country Boy History Mine Tour

Shuttle Buses will pickup and drop off at Beaver Run Conference Center. Explore the original workings of the of the infamous Country Boy Mine as you feel, hear and smell what it was like to be a Colorado miner over 100 years ago. Witness a live demonstration of the jack leg drill and learn about Colorado’s glorious mining history. Your knowledgeable guide will explain how the tunnels were created; the tools used and describe the perseverance of the dedicated men that faced each day working underground. The tour lasts around 45 minutes. After the tour you can pan for gold and browse the historic exhibit.

Space is limited to 75 people.

This par-71, Hurdzan-Fry course brings an element of drama to your game. The par-35 front nine is oriented around the path of the Snake River and the par-36 back nine winds through a lodgepole pine forest. Impressive elevation changes, variable bunkers, water hazards, and five sets of tees on each hole combine to challenge golfers of all abilities. The 16th hole features a 194-foot elevation drop from tee to green and the scenic 18th hole offers 12 bunkers and spectacular views of Lake Dillon. Add to that the magnificent views of snow-capped peaks and wildlife and it’s easy to see this is a golfing experience unlike any other. Total yardage is 4,762 - 6,886.
